Blood pressure is a sensitive indicator of changes in the emotional processes. During the Blood Pressure Relaxation Test (BRT), the person is requested to sit down in a fauteuil with a foot rest, to slacken his muscles and to relax for ten minutes, all the while consciously being aware of his breathing. During that time, the blood pressure and pulse rate are measured every minute. Usually, the "blood pressure value at rest" (in terms of systolic blood pressure) is reached by the 7 th to 8 th minute.
